U.S. Open History

The United States Open Championship has been conducted annually by the
United States Golf Association since 1895. For more than a century, the world’s greatest
players have been identified by prevailing in golf’s toughest test. This year, the 112th
U.S. Open will be conducted at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif., where 156
players will vie for the trophy that bears the names of such past champions as Francis
Ouimet, Bob Jones, Ben Hogan, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.
